Premium VersionĪll main premium versions of the game later received their own revamped update on December 20, 2017, adding 50 puzzles (including those based on the arcade versions of Shanghai, Shanghai II, and Shanghai III) and a daily puzzle rotation (bringing the total up to 2000). This version of the game is still being updated as of April 2021. On October 18, 2013, SUNSOFT released an updated free-to-play version for iOS and Android, which updates the UI and graphics while adding new modes (such as the online multiplayer modes from Shanghai Amigo), new puzzles (including a daily rotation), and microtransactions. It also received a spin-off, known as Shanghai Amigo. Since its original release, the game received numerous updates and revisions, adding a variety of new puzzles, new game modes (including online multiplayer), and graphical updates. The first mahjong solitaire game released on a smartphone, Shanghai is an adaptation of the long-running mahjong solitaire series of the same name and includes 50 different puzzles (in its original release) utilizing the system's touchscreen. A separate free-to-play version was later released. It was later released for the iPad (in Japan as Shanghai HD and in English as Mahjong Shanghai HD) on Jand for Android devices on March 11, 2011.

Shanghai (known overseas originally as Mahjong Solitaire, then after the original release as Mahjong Shanghai) is a mahjong solitaire game developed and digitally published by SUNSOFT for the iPhone 3G (as a launch title for the App Store) on July 11, 2008.
